Detailed introduction

Potassium methoxysalicylate corrects epidermal atypical hyperplasia, dyskeratosis and atrophy, and has the effect of significantly perfecting the keratinization process and promoting the smooth discharge of melanin; it also promotes the increase of hyaline keratin particles and the thickening of the grain layer, which thins the stratum corneum and accelerates the layer-forming action of keratinocytes, resulting in smooth and whitened skin.

Potassium methoxysalicylate not only has the same effect of inhibiting melanin production as the existing whitening active ingredients, but also has the effect of adjusting the differentiation of keratin-forming cells, which can improve the skin condition where melanin is easily deposited in excess. Human effectiveness tests have confirmed its excellent defense effect against artificially induced hyperpigmentation.

4MSK acts on melanin in two major ways

1、Inhibit melanin synthesis

In the study of whitening ingredients, an important part is of course the analysis of the actual production of melanin and the inhibition of tyrosinase. Simply put, the result is that 4MSK can inhibit melanin production and tyrosinase activity under certain concentration environment.

2、Accelerate melanin metabolism
In the Shiseido study, we observed the differentiation expression of this panel in a 3D cultured skin model, focusing on the level of “tropomyosin” in the granular layer, and the results showed that UV irradiation of the skin model with 4MSK significantly inhibited the decrease in tropomyosin expression caused by UV. This observation indicates that 4MSK is functionally similar to salicylic acid in terms of its ability to promote smooth melanin metabolism in in vitro models.
